Well, normally you'd have some trenches, mud, barbed wire and some dead bodies to help round out the colour contrast.. ;)

Must be, if you look at the lock gate's beam you'll see the same blue glow on the side facing us. While people will dismiss this as incorrect white balance, your idea sounds better.
